FAQs
Q. Why choose Kenya?
A. The Kenya Aid Foundation was established during the outbreak of post-election violence in early 2008, and in the context of an escalating humanitarian crisis throughout Kenya. Consecutive years of droughts, flooding, conflict and displacement in Kenya have been met largely with a shortfall in aid and funding for East Africa as a region. The focus of our work is therefore to deliver improvements in local infrastructure and educational facilities in some of the worst affected areas of Kenya.
Q. How do I know that my donation will help a village that is defined as absolutely poor with no clean water and very few facilities?
A. The Kenya Aid Foundation will follow every project from start to finish, with representative teams transporting and accompanying all equipment. In addition, all equipment will be installed and tested until working properly. News updates and pictures will feature on the website.
Q. What is the main religion of Kenya?
A. A large majority of Kenyans are Christian, while estimates for the number of Kenyans who adhere to Islamic and indigenous beliefs vary (Protestant 45%, Roman Catholic 33%, Muslim 10%, indigenous beliefs 10%, other 2%). The Kenya Aid Foundation is neither political nor religious. The only criterion for helping people is that they are unable to help themselves.
Q. How much of my donation will be spent on administration?
A. When the Kenya Aid Foundation accounts are published, they show that as much as 85% of the total collected will have been spent on projects or is in the process of being spent. In order to ensure that expenses are minimised, a separate trading company has been set up. This trading company is expected to pay the salaries and expenses of all full-time and part-time employees of the Foundation. In addition, any profits will be paid to the Kenya Aid Foundation.
